Tractors
Whitley Logistics, Inc. makes it one of our main priorities to be on time for all deliveries.  To achieve this it is crucial to have reliable equipment.  Most of our tractors are leased through Penske Trucking, which has a network of hundreds of locally-owned and managed truck service centers and more than 22,000 qualified suppliers nationwide.  We rely on them to take care of everything from federal and state inspections to all major and minor repairs.  If our tractors can not be repaired within three hours Penske will supply us with another unit to finish the job.

Penske's progressive preventive maintenance program is at the foundation of everything they do for our fleet.  This includes regularly scheduled inspections of more than 100 check points including: brakes, tires, electrical, drive-train and chassis.  They also analyze fluids to identify "early warning" signs of wear and tear and use only Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts and products for the repairs.

We have partnered with Penske as they share our need for delivering innovative transportation solutions that are vital to the success of the company.  We share their core values of: commitment to our customers, dedication to excellence and innovative thinking.  All of this guarantees us and our clients of on time deliveries.

Trailers
Even though is is important for our tractors to be reliable, it is even more important that our trailers operate flawlessly.  This is why we only use ThermoKing SB400 and Carrier Ultra XL refrigerated units.  We have been impressed with both companies' expertise and commitment to service, which enables Whitley Logstics, Inc. to provide impeccable service to our clients.

All of our trailers have multiple temperature sensors allowing us to monitor your product.  By having multiple temperature recording devices, we can verify that your products' requirements are maintained even if there is a failure or glitch in one system.  The four types of recording devices we use are DataCold, Transcan, Microprocessor, and a Data Acquisition System (DAS).  All four systems have there individual benefits.  The DataCold and Transcan are seperate units attached to the trailer.  They save data and allow you to print out temperature tapes at any moment in any location for up to seven days worth of data.  This is very beneficial when journey tickets or delivery tickets need to be presented at pickup or delivery.  All four systems are capable of being downloaded to a computer for the entire life of that unit.

The ThermoKing SB400 unit is used in our plasma routes because of its superior cooling capacity for deep frozen loads.  It is one of the only units availabe that is able to cool and maintain a temperature of -35°C.  Its main features are extremely fast temperature pull down, precise temperature control, whisper-quiet operation, eco-friendly fuel savings, unsurpassed system quality and reliablity, easy to use smart reefer controls, and unmatched service access.  These units also come equipped with glycol wells which are double probed with temperature sensors to provide accurate temperature documentation.  The glycol wells are used to simulate plasma products and allow for product temperature monitoring and not just the ambient air temperature in the trailer.

All of our units are set up with alarm systems via a satellite or cellular system to notify  the management team at Whitley Logistics, Inc. as well as the driver of any variances or problems.  At the first sign of concern we can get the unit in for repair and avoid any claims that would have otherwise arisen.  The trailers also undergo scheduled routine maintenance to make sure they are always in prime working condition.  We feel that preventative maintenance is the first step in avoiding issues.

Like Penske, ThermoKing and Carrier have a nationwide parts network with warehouses and service agents located throughout the country providing service 24 hours a day seven days a week.  They have a progressive worldwide program of training and technical certification, so no matter where in the country our drivers are located, we know they will have a qualified service technician at close reach.

Internal Quality Control

When dealing with pharmaceuticals, quality is paramount.  One way of providing quality is to ensure that the regulatory standards are complied within every situation.  In order to provide this we have a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that are adhered to by everyone at Whitley Logistics, Inc.  Our SOPs cover every aspect of the job from filling out paperwork to the frequency trailers need to be washed and sanitized.  Following our SOPs is one of the most critical functions an employee can perform.  Our SOPs give customers the peace of mind that our level of care and dependability is the same everytime we take a shipment.

Another way we monitor our performance is through internal quarterly audits.  The results of these audits enable us to fine tune our procedures to an even higher level.  We also take this time to reflect on our previous experiences and learn from them.  Performing internal audits assures Whitley Logistics, Inc that it is prepared for any external audits, whether they be from our clients or the Department of Transportation (DOT).

Whitley Logistics, Inc. also has high quality standards for its equipment.  All of our trailers are calibrated every six months by ThermoKing, an authorized refrigerated service agent.  ThermoKing uses a National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) calibrated thermometer to verify reefer unit temperature readings are accurate to within ±1°C.   Trailers are also validated every three years by a qualified account.  The validation is a very thorough process including, but not limited to: heat up and cool down studies, maximum and minimum capacity loads, and empty loads.  This is important so we know exactly how our trailers are affected by the type and amount of product loaded on them.

External Quality Control

Whitley Logistics, Inc. understands that excellent quality control is needed to provide a safe transportation environment for your product.  Most of what we transport is lifesaving material that must be handled with the utmost care.   This is why we maintain the highest level of expertise in the industry.   We are currently European Union (EU) certified through Germany.  Our EU certification is good for two years, which is the longest certification that they will award to a logistic company.  Our last audit was in July of 2010 where we received outstanding remarks during the audit.

Another form of external quality control is through our individual clients.  For many clients we have specific SOPs designed to meet their needs.  We invite our clients to come in at any time to audit our documents to ensure we are following the requirements that have been specified to meet their needs.  Generally, our clients find that our standards are above and beyond their specifications.  We have never had a poor audit and are proud of our level of thoroughness and dedication.
